Friday, May 8 2009 opens at the Gallery of Verona MelePere the staff Mustafa Sabbagh. Sensitive interpreter of a portrait photography that always eludes the artifices which fit with the glossy fashion styles, offers a series of works that are divided between the atmospheric basement of the gallery MelePere Verona, dating from the twelfth century. The vernacular context, impure and resigned stresses controversial suspension of perception. Photography is a reflection of his warm and calm, a clear liquid, a precious crystallization. Teen faces soaked lyricism rarely follow one another in expressions of the fascinations of the sidereal, the lens of this aesthetic side of the Alps - the Flemish and Scandinavian - that the ancient insights fifteenth-century Flemish School, takes place in today's leading-edge Tillmans, Teller and Dijsktra. In each place iconographic attribute that could endanger even the desire for a fleeting eternity aesthetics, naked flesh, the epitaliale is his ideal: the punctum creeps as a freckle, small subcutaneous vein, accident, bruises and small wounds. Scattered divine imperfections - in the manner of Caravaggio and the Pre-Raphaelites who had the ambition sacrilegious to portray something otherworldly in the shoes of impure raw reality - the poses nourish a frozen immobility of unprecedented immediacy. In some cases a dynamic appears dark and charming, filled with a spleen romanticheggiante, erotic resigned, unfinished. It agrees a kind of neoclassicism veiled expression where the vertigo of reality, the wonder dell'immondo, the perfect imperfection stand out as unique styles of portraits of an era that describes the decadent, afflicted, emaciated, underground - underground -.
